Coronado is a settlement on Hopper Island and the main center of population on the island. It lies on the northeastern end of the island. Coronado was named after Coronado, California, a beach resort town near San Diego, where Sherman Hopper and Cary Castenada spent the summer of 1946 at the famous Hotel del Coronado.
The beachfront part is called Coronado Beach and is centered around Ocean Street and two piers. Perpendicular to Ocean Street is Main Street. In Coronado, there are two more streets parallel with the coastline and Ocean Street, namely Castenada and Gilpatrick Street. Utopia Road is the longest paved road on the island and connects Coronado with Laguna. At last, there are several trails and unpaved paths in and around Castenada.
