Madeleine Smith, née North (June 6, 1925 in Redlands, California - May 28, 1976; age 50), was an American-born woman who came to Hopper Island with her husband William in 1948. Prior to their arrival, the Smiths were befriended with Joshua Hunter, who was also from Southern California.
Madeleine and William remained childless. She died in 1876; William died four years later.
